Sheet of Manchester-themed temporary tattoos designed by Anna Simmons, featuring repeating illustrations of Bet Lynch, rainbows, and rain clouds

Playful, portable and (thankfully) non-permanent visuals

My illustrations are a great fit for temporary tattoos - a fun, tactile way to bring visuals off the screen and onto… people! Perfect for events, campaigns, or branded giveaways, they turn imagery into something wearable and memorable, often lasting days. Or even weeks.

People love unexpected novelty! Temporary tattoos can bring that to your project.

Here’s how it worked for one Manchester conference

For a UK museum conference in Manchester, I was commissioned to create an illustrated map and supporting visuals.

Later, the organisers adapted elements of the artwork into custom temporary tattoos - including a portrait of Bet Lynch, a rainbow, and a Manchester rain cloud.

Anna Simmons’ arm resting on a coral background, wearing colourful temporary tattoos: two rainbows, a raincloud, and a portrait of Bet Lynch from Coronation Street. The arm is shown in a short-sleeved patterned blouse.

The bold colours and modular forms I use in my digital collage work make my illustrations ideal for temporary tattoos; they need to read clearly on skin, even at a glance.

The tattoos were handed out to visitors during the event, sparking real engagement: people wore them, took selfies, and shared them on social media.

A screenshot of a tweet showing a person’s wrist with a temporary rainbow tattoo and pink nail varnish, giving a thumbs up. The tweet shares excitement about the free tattoos handed out at the Manchester conference.

I placed Bet Lynch near my cleavage and then went for a swim today… it’s a conversation starter, that’s for sure!

This playful format helped extend the visual identity of the campaign into something interactive and memorable, while while giving attendees something to stick on and show off.
