Working closely with the interior design team of a boutique hotel group in Sri Lanka, I created a set of custom interior illustrations for their branded spaces. Their flagship property featured striking post-colonial architecture, and the team had chosen a mid-century modern aesthetic across the chain; complete with vintage travel posters evoking the golden age of travel. While visually cohesive, this look risked leaving a gap in cultural representation.

My illustrations were commissioned to bridge that gap- introducing scenes of local life, faith, and landscape. The artwork complemented the interiors, while my visual storytelling quietly rebalanced the narrative, offering snapshots of real life and a more respectful sense of place and identity.

The result was not only a seamless visual fit, but a brand expression that felt warm, human, and rooted. The illustrations helped differentiate the hotel’s identity, build guest affinity with each venue, and subtly add charm to every visit.
