I set the scene for this illustrated map of Oban, Scotland deep in winter. I wanted to evoke the feeling of a coastal walk followed by a warming glass of whiskey (from Oban Distillery), perhaps in an old, stone B&B, combining nature, industry, and local culture. Fishing boats, a ferry to Mull, and a whale in the sea highlight the maritime life, while deep evergreen trees and warm reds give a bracing wintery walk a cosy touch.
